Drama Freeze Frames

this term we have been doing drama. what we have focusing on in drama was freeze frames, freeze frames or tableau is a picture formed by people in a frozen state making a scene from a book or movie.

our freeze frame was about Maui and the fish.

in these picture Maui is hiding in the waka they used levels to show where they are
in the second photo you can see that they are bringing up the fish and are shocked or surprised.

in the third photo the brothers are attacking the fish and Maui is walking away.

what works well was the body language because you can clearly see what they were doing. we should improve our focus when we were doing the freeze frame. we used facial expressions in the second photo to show they were shocked that Maui was bringing up the fish. And they used levels to show were they were and what they were doing. our transitions were fast paced and they got to it fast.

conflict and scenarios

today we are learning to resolve conflicts and being assertive. and this activity we had to read a scenario and stop the conflict in a good way. I wonder why people even start conflicts.

Michael invited Tracey to come over to his house after school. As they were walking to Michael’s house they see a younger kid they know from school. The younger kid is by himself riding his skateboard. Michael wants to mess with this kid, just to play around, but Tracey is uncomfortable with that idea.

in this story Tracey can tell Michael to stop in a polite way.

tips to stop conflict.

be polite when you speak.

don't join that conflict.

tips for assertive communication

make you voice loud but shouting

it  matters in how you say it

roleplay

walking home

Tracey: hey you wanna go somewhere

Micheal: okay lets go to the park

Micheal: hey you see that kid over there

Tracey: yeah

Micheal: imma mess him up

Today we have been reading a text called Explorers of The Sunrise. Explorers of the sunrise is a text about Maori voyagers in the waka travelling to Rapanui/Easter island and back. the voyage was a dream to waka builder Hekunukumai Busby, it took ten months, and the crew voyaging, used the traditional methods in this trip. they first cross Tubuai, then reached mangareva, after that  travelling they had finally reached Rapanui. they had at sea for 90 days, and they were happy to have a four week break before voyaging back to New Zealand. then when they had finished resting they went back on the waka and  sailed to New Zealand again. they had now went to Moorea Tahiti, and raratonga, then got to doubtless bay.
